Getting To Know PoustEx

PoustEx is a computer animated short film project created by BaloOm Animation Studios. The story follows PoustEx, a young mail delivery robot on his first day of work, admiring everything he sees with the sense of wonder of a child at an amusement park. When PoustEx discovers a house without a mailbox, he decides to deliver the letter personally and realizes that not all mail is good mail. After seeing the sad reaction of the mail recipient, PoustEx is determined to make things better, but some things are easier said than done. For PoustEx, many challenges lie ahead.

PoustEx is a story of adventure, one little robot’s search for meaning of life and the effect our choices have on the world.

The Project

Directed by Cristiano Policarpo and produced by Ingrid Gomes, the short film is being developed in Brazil with additional collaboration by industry professionals around the world.

The idea of PoustEx came about in early 2011 and we’ve already finished the story, screenplay, character and environment concept design. Storyboarding, animation and modeling are all well under way.

While we’ve completed a great number of tasks, there’s still much to do. In order to tell our compelling story, we still need to produce quite a bit of complex 3D animation, exciting effects, beautiful lighting and construction of several character and environment models.

But there is still much to do, because our goal is to produce a complex 3D animation, with dynamics, visually delightful, with several locations and especially with a good story to tell.

Our goal is to release PoustEx at the end of 2015, at which time we will submit it to a number of animation and film festivals around the world. We will also release it on DVD, Blu-Ray and make it available for digital download through the iTunes store.

The film will have approximate run time of 12 minutes and is appropriate for all ages.
